Rob Zettler - Camp Founder, Lead Instructor Following a 14-year NHL playing career that included three seasons in San Jose, former NHL defenseman Rob Zettler completed his third season as an assistant coach with the Sharks. One of Zettler's main duties on Head Coach Ron Wilson's staff is working closely with the team's defensemen. In 2003-04, the team set franchise records for fewest goals-against (183) and team shutouts (11).
After playing in San Jose, Zettler moved on to play with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Maple Leafs in Toronto and then spent his final three seasons in the Washington Capitals organization, where he played for Wilson and Assistant Coach Tim Hunter. He spent portions of the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons with the Portland Pirates, Washington's American Hockey League affiliate, where in addition to his role as a player, Zettler worked with the organization's prospects on the ice and helped prepare them for the rigors of the NHL. Zettler returned to San Jose in 2002 following his retirement from the NHL as the Sharks radio hockey analyst. In that capacity, he added his experience to home game broadcasts, as well as assisting on "SharkByte", a weekly, 30-minute magazine-style television show devoted to the Sharks on FOX Sports Net. He also helped to create the Sharks Alumni Association, in addition to assisting The Sharks Foundation and the team's Fan Development Department with its programs, clinics and events. Additionally, Rob and fellow Sharks Assistant Coach Tim Hunter were the first professional coaches to be certified as trainers with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). To learn more about PCA and it's mission, and/or to schedule a PCA workshop with your youth sports organization, please visit their website at www.positivecoach.org. Zettler has participated in and instructed at many different hockey camps over the past twenty years. This year, Rob is again excited to offer Zettler Pro Hockey Camps for the sixth time. Cathy Andrade - Professional Power Skating Instructor The foundation of any successful hockey player lies in the player's ability to skate well. For that reason, I am excited to bring Cathy Andrade into the camp this year to add her expertise in this critical skill for any young hockey player's development. Born in Calgary, Canada, Cathy has over 20 years of skating experience in teaching skating techniques.
Cathy has taught at many different hockey schools over the years and has also run her own successful clinic, "Cathy's Power Hour", in San Jose since 1998. In the past few years she has worked with many Bay Area hockey clubs including the San Jose Jr. Sharks, the Santa Clara Blackhawks, and the California Cougars. She has coached the San Jose Jr. Sharks Girls Spring Program, the Jr. Sharks Summer League, the Jr. Sharks Skills Classes and other specialized clinics. During the 2005-2006 season Cathy spent time in Fresno, CA working with the San Jose Sharks affiliate Fresno Falcons of the ECHL.
